brickacademy I love every single track on this EP. if it’s your first time listening the first song will undoubtedly grab your attention. If I had to choose a favorite the first song would be high up the list. That said make sure to listen to the EP in its entirety - and I mean that literally because the last song is also a strong competitor if I had to choose a favorite... all the way to the closing of the last song.

Zach Wegner Oxygenpony throws down more tracks like a Buckowski night-dream all set-up with a piano, six string and a load of teardrops. This collection of poems set to notes & chords is a much needed melody for anyone ready to embrace the apocalypse with one eye half open with hope. Think Tom Waits in his prime. A must listen.

I watch the leaves as they blow kisses From my window to the street I nailed it shut without a hammer While the wolves were counting sheep Then I get up to wash the dishes Cause I've been sitting here for weeks Getting lost in conversation With a ghost who never speaks I'm not the one who you walked out on Though it broke my heart to stay So bewildered by the silence A catastrophic last refrain It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside God I don't know where I'm going God I don't know where I'm going God I don't know where I'm going It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside It's Getting Light Outside

Parachute 05:29
Oh my god we’re gonna die ‘Cause this is not how aeroplanes fly I should have brought my parachute But I gave that up after I met you No bailing out I’m staying in If this plane goes down then no one wins I should have called before I left Or left a note upon your desk Repeat first 2 lines of verse Oh my god I must be high ‘Cause looking down there’s only sky I could have used my parachute But it’s too late for that excuse No long goodbyes no sad hellos I wish I’d worn some finer clothes I could have called before I left But that won’t be my last regret Repeat first 4 lines of verse Oh my god we’re gonna die And you will never know what I Thought of you on my way down With every breath until the ground

Twenty One 04:47
You sailed out on the lake of doubt and I nearly drowned that day It’s been too long I can’t keep holding on when I grasp there’s only space I shall be released standing without feet in a body comprised of clay I Don’t Wanna Be The One To Do What Your Father Done When You Were Twenty-One Uncage my head the nightingale that fled whispers ‘Don’t you die on me’ I laugh her laugh this unlikely life raft will never set me free I Don’t Wanna Be The One To Do What Your Father Done When You Were Twenty-One You Changed With this water in my teeth God it’s awfully hard to breathe And there’s nowhere to put my knees to pray There’s nowhere to put my knees I’m floating further out of reach Love will find a way I Don’t Wanna Be The One To Do What Your Father Done When You Were Twenty One

You swore from the beginning While we were winning I would lose And cast you as the villain So self-fulfilling But not true The hardest part of leaving (The hardest part of leaving) Is being torn into (Is being torn in two) When everything you wished for (something less familiar) Was standing next to you Maybe you were wrong Maybe you were right If you haven’t got the courage Then it isn’t worth the fight If you haven’t got the heart Then there’s nothing left to gain And you haven’t got the heart
5.
You don’t know me like you used to When we were laughing in the garden And you don’t owe me no explanation For surviving Where’s the bottom? Where’s the end? Are you still living next to the drive in? What are you watching through your window? Where’s the bottom? Where’s the end? You are the lightening I can’t defend Think I’m over you Think I’m over you I think I‘m over you I think I’m over you I think I’m over you I think I’m over you Think I’m over you I think I’m over you Where’s the bottom? Where’s the end? Can we watch the sunrise for the last time again? Can we watch the sunrise?

about

Oxygenpony New York, New York

HAF holds heart and soul inside hands of rhythm and hope, a curious but interesting mix of mellow and melancholia - like an up-beat Dream City Film Club, a saddened Talk Talk, or Leonard Cohen cracking a smile as Lou Reed tells a joke. It’s sad Britpop for happy dreamers. These thoughts drift in with the songs, but over it all is a powerful and solid style and beautiful heartfelt music. BT #86 ... more
